Gene for β-1,3-glucanase was isolated from Solanum tuberosum.6. Brief description of the method used for the genetic modification:The explants of flax hypocotyls and cotyledons were transformed by incubation with suspension of recombined Agrobacterium tumefaciens.7. Purpose of the release:The aim of the project is verification of genetically improved transgenic plants properties in field trial; generated plants were enriched in biodegradable plastic (polyhydroxybutyrate). The goal is also to verify in field trial transgenic plants with properties of high resistance to pathogen infection (with overexpression of β-1,3-glucanase) and higher antioxidant capacity.2. and no uncontrolled spread over of GMO was observed and also another disadvantageous changes in environment were not notified.Environmental Impact and Risk ManagementSummary of the potential environmental impact from the release of the GMPts:Transgenic flax containing polyhydroxybutyrate has changed thermoplastic properties, which leads to improvement of fibre quality. Expression of β-1,3-glucanase resulted in 3-fold higher resistance to Fusarium pathogens.
Obtained transgenic plants can not have selective dominance in natural environment.Brief description of any measures taken for the management of risks:During experiment the GMO trials will be controlled every week. The field during one year after experiment accomplished, at least once per month will be monitored. In case of any negative influence on natural environment the cultivation will be destroyed by herbicide treatment.Summary of foreseen field trial studies focused to gain new data on environmental and human health impact from the release:We do not expect any influence on natural environment and human health, it is unexpected any consequence of release of transgenic plant to environment.Final report-European Commission administrative informationConsent given by the Member State Competent Authority:Yes16/04/2013 00:00:00Remarks:
