2. Description of the traits and characteristics which have been introduced or modified, including marker genes and previous modifications:
The lines A188-Susy lines have been obtained by means of the crossing between HiII-Susy (masculine parental) with the variety A188 (feminine parental).
The parental HiII-Susy contain the Susy gene (who produces an increase of the Sucrose synthase activity) and the bar gene as selection marker (induces the resistance to the herbicide ammonium glufosinate): the genes were transferred to the plant cells by the biobalistics method.

3. Type of genetic modification:
Insertion;

In case of insertion of genetic material, give the source and intended function of each constituent fragment of the region to be inserted:
As base, the plasmid pAHC25 had been used (Transgenic Research Volume 5, Number 3, 213-218, 1996, Ubiquitin promoter - based vectors for high-level expression of selectable and/or screenable marker genes in monocotyledonous plants; Alan H. Christensen and Peter H. Quail). This plasmid contains the gene GUS under the control of the corn ubiquitin promoter. For the transformation, in the vector pAHC25, the gene GUS has been eliminated and replace by the Susy gene.

6. Brief description of the method used for the genetic modification:
For the genetic transformation of the corn used as parental masculine in the hybridizations, from which we obtain our lines to be tested, the method bioballistic was used. So we avoid exogenous sequences in the integration of the fragment of ADN.

7. If the recipient or parental plant is a forest tree species, describe ways and extent of dissemination and specific factors affecting dissemination:
It does not belong to a forest tree species.

Experimental Release

1. Purpose of the release:
We realize this request for the purpose of being able to multiply the obtained lines of the hybrids generated from the varieties A188 and HiII-Susy. This will allow us to realize an analytical accused of the seeds obtained in each of the lines. Also, we will realize a selection in field of those lines that present a better agronomic characteristics derived from the variety A188 and that, in turn, has incorporated the Susy gene introduced previously in the variety HiII.

2. Geographical location of the site:
Municipal district of Zaragoza. Plot belonging to the Aula DEI.

3. Size of the site (m2):
In the voluntary liberation, 550 m2 will deal for corn modified lines A188-Susy, plus a border A188 variety with 750 m2 of surface. The entire area destined for the essay will be of 1300 m2.

4. Relevant data regarding previous releases carried out with the same GM-plant, if any, specifically related to the potential environmental and human health impacts from the release:
The HiII-Susy lines used as a masculine parental of the transgenic lines A188-Susy it were liberated in field for obtain preliminary data by requests B/ES/11/10 and B/ES/12/18 (proceeded by the IDAB), considering null effects over the environment and the health, since the genetically modified plant with high levels of sucrose synthase perform low risk. This is do to the poor probability that an homologous gene from the plant (ZmSuSy) causes harmful effects to human, animals or plants.

Environmental Impact and Risk Management

Summary of the potential environmental impact from the release of the GMPts:
We do not think that the introduction of the Susy gene could offer a selective advantage for the corn plant in a natural way, since this is a plant for only agricultural uses, not contemplated as an invasive species in the royal ordinance 630/2013.

Brief description of any measures taken for the management of risks:
- There will be minimized the possible spread of vegetable material, creating a perimeter about the free essay of 200 meters of corn and other compatible weeds of being pollinated by the transgenic plants.
- We will plant for the whole perimeter of the essay a 5 meters wide of corn (wild type A188 variety that will be destroyed after its harvested, as we will do with the transgenic lines.
- The plots will be clean of weeds.
- The A188-Susy lines will be harvested manually to avoid seeds dispersion and will eliminate the stumps of the plants after harvesting, destroying them together with the rest of biomass lenerated during its cultivation.
- Any machinery used in the harvested of the cobs proceeding from the border and modified plant will be cleaned in situ, in order to avoid the spread of material.
- The harvested seed from borders plants will be destroyed.
- During the year following the essay, corn will not be sow in the plot area in order to detect any germinated corn plants: In case this happen, the plants will be eliminaed manually.
- A control of the personnel with access to the plot will be check.
- The transports of seeds, samples or plants used during the essay, will be identified at all times and will be transported under conditions of maximum safety.


Summary of foreseen field trial studies focused to gain new data on environmental and human health impact from the release:
The planned field trials are faced for the study and production of vegetable material (seeds), and it is not planned to evaluate its impact on the environment or human health.
