3. Is the same GMPt release planned elsewhere in the Community?Yes: Spain; Has the same GMPt been notified elsewhere by the same notifier?YesIf yes, notification number(s): B/ES/10/49; Genetically modified plantComplete name of the recipient or parental plant(s)
2. Description of the traits and characteristics which have been introduced or modified, including marker genes and previous modifications:Glyphosate tolerance.Genetic modification3. If the recipient or parental plant is a forest tree species, describe ways and extent of dissemination and specific factors affecting dissemination:Not relevant.Experimental Release1. Purpose of the release:Evaluation of potential risks and effect of genetically modified glyphosate tolerant cotton management on the adventitious and ruderal flora and the arthropods, in the agroclimatic conditions of the Spanish cotton area.2. Geographical location of the site:Andalucía
Province of Sevilla
Municipality Lebrija3. Size of the site (m2):20.500 m24. Relevant data regarding previous releases carried out with the same GM-plant, if any, specifically related to the potential environmental and human health impacts from the release:The cotton breeding line used in the trial has been provided by the producer who has the information about previous releases carried out with the same GM-plant.Environmental Impact and Risk ManagementSummary of the potential environmental impact from the release of the GMPts:It is considered that there is not potential environmental impact from the release of the GMPts, due to the precaution measures taken during the trial and the nonexistence of wild species relatives of cotton in Europe. The goal of this research is to evaluate the potential environmental impact of the GM cotton management.Brief description of any measures taken for the management of risks:- The field will be visited on a regular basis during the assay development.
- The crop will be destroyed and buried before the flowering.
- The field will be supervised and controlled the following year (2011) in order to check the absence of volunteers.
The plant material will be transported under the supervision of researchers
conducting the assay in double packing (boxes and bags), properly labeled.Summary of foreseen field trial studies focused to gain new data on environmental and human health impact from the release:Not relevantFinal report-European Commission administrative informationConsent given by the Member State Competent Authority:Yes09/06/2010 00:00:00Remarks:
